Cells & Clubs

SC, ST & OBC Cell at IDEAL

At IDEAL College for Women, inclusivity, equal opportunity and a discrimination-free academic environment are fundamental values. To uphold these principles, the college has established a dedicated SC/ST/OBC Cell aimed at addressing the academic, social, and personal concerns of students, faculty and staff members belonging to reserved categories.

This cell functions as a supportive and grievance-redressal body, ensuring that individuals from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) can participate freely in all academic, research and co-curricular activities without fear of discrimination or bias.

Objectives

  • To foster an atmosphere of equality and respect on campus by sensitizing students, faculty and staff about the importance of diversity and social inclusion.
  • To provide a confidential platform for reporting and addressing any issues related to discrimination, harassment, or unfair practices based on caste or community.
  • To promote awareness about government policies and schemes meant for the welfare of SC/ST/OBC students and staff.

Functions of the SC/ST/OBC Cell

  • Disseminating Government Orders: Regularly circulate notifications, decisions and directives from the Government of India and statutory bodies concerning the rights and welfare of SC/ST/OBC communities in higher education.
  • Admission and Recruitment Monitoring: Collect and maintain data on course-wise admissions and staff appointments from these categories, ensuring compliance with reservation policies and taking necessary follow-up actions.
  • Policy Development Support: Gather and analyze reports on education, training and employment opportunities for SC/ST/OBC candidates, providing inputs for policy formulation and improvement.
  • Grievance Redressal: Address complaints and representations from SC/ST/OBC students, faculty, and staff related to admissions, promotions, appointments and any other concerns.
  • Remedial Support: Oversee and support remedial coaching or mentoring initiatives approved for SC/ST/OBC students to enhance their academic performance.
  • Employment Register Maintenance: Maintain records of employment and representation of SC/ST/OBC candidates in various posts within the institution.
  • Workshops & Sensitization Programmes: Organize awareness drives, seminars and workshops focused on social inclusion, equity and educational advancement for marginalized communities.
  • Coordination and Liaison: Serve as the nodal point for coordinating with university-level cells and government bodies regarding the welfare and development of these communities.
  • Other Assigned Duties: Perform additional tasks as directed by the institution to advance the interests of SC/ST/OBC members on campus.
