Anti-Ragging Cell at IDEAL

At IDEAL College for Women, ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of every student is a top priority. In alignment with the Supreme Court of India directives, UGC regulations, and Government guidelines, the college strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Any student found involved in ragging activities will face serious disciplinary action in accordance with the law and institutional policies.

Recognizing that ragging adversely affects the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of students, the college is dedicated to maintaining a ragging-free campus, safeguarding an atmosphere of respect, compassion, and mutual trust.

To cultivate a safe, inclusive, and harmonious academic environment free from ragging, by promoting values of tolerance, empathy, democratic ethics and social responsibility among students.

Mission

To proactively prevent ragging by spreading awareness, enforcing strict discipline, and ensuring swift redressal of grievances — thereby sending a clear, uncompromising message against any act of ragging within the campus premises.

Objectives

  • To strictly prohibit any verbal, physical, emotional, or psychological act of ragging in the college premises.
  • To raise awareness about the consequences and legal implications of ragging among students.
  • To maintain constant vigilance through the Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad to prevent incidents.
  • To promptly address complaints, conduct inquiries and take suitable action against those involved.
  • To conduct periodic Anti-Ragging awareness workshops and sensitization programs.
  • To hold executive meetings of the Anti-Ragging Cell at least three times a year.

Anti-Ragging Policy

As per UGC Regulations (2009), ragging includes any act causing physical, emotional or mental distress to a student. The college strictly prohibits & acts against such behavior.

  • Zero tolerance for any direct or indirect act of ragging.
  • Anonymous suggestion/complaint boxes for students.
  • Clearly displayed helpline numbers & contact details of committee members.
  • Mandatory undertakings from students & parents at admission against involvement in ragging.

Punishments for Ragging

Depending on the severity of the offense, any student found guilty of ragging will face one or more of the following penalties:

  • Warning or written apology
  • Withholding of results or scholarships
  • Suspension from classes or hostel facilities
  • Legal action as per state & national laws
  • Debarring from exams or academic privileges
  • Expulsion from college & debarment from future admissions

Powers and Responsibilities

  • To monitor campus areas & activities to prevent ragging.
  • To receive & investigate complaints of ragging.
  • To provide counseling services for affected students.
  • To conduct orientation programs & workshops for new students & staff.
  • To recommend disciplinary actions to the management.
  • To publicize anti-ragging policies through meetings, displays & awareness campaigns.
